Method 1: Block Certain Keywords
- Commence by ascertaining that the Orbi SXS80 is connected correctly with the internet mode and check that the power connection is well in place.
- You should now connect your computer or laptop to Orbi’s WiFi. An alternative way to connect to the Orbi network is by making a LAN connection. Let us tell you that the wired connections are always preferable as the chances of signal interruptions are reduced.
- Soon after you have connected the PC to the network, load up an internet browser on it. Use any browser that you have installed on the PC. An updated one is to be preferred.
- In the address field of the browser, input the Orbi login URL. The URL is orbilogin.net or orbilogin.com.
- Hit Enter to access the login page wherein you need to insert the login username and password of Orbi.
- After you’re logged in, go to the Advanced tab.
- Select Security > Block Sites.
- A new page Block Sites opens up.
- You have two options; Per Schedule and Always. The first option blocks sites as per the schedule that you will set and the second one blocks sites all the time. Choose the option according to your preference.
- The next field is Type keyword or domain name here. Insert the keyword or domain that you want to block. Click Add Keyword to add the keyword to the blocked list.
- You can add up to 32 keywords.
- After you’re done adding the keywords, click Apply.
This blocks websites with specific keywords in them. You can test them now by entering the website URL in the browser’s URL field.
Method 2: Switch to a DNS Server
Certain DNS servers such as Cloud flare can help block sites completely. In the above method, there’s one disadvantage. Not all the sites may be blocked as you may skip some keywords. However, if you use Cloud flare, all adult websites can be blocked.
- Log in to your Orbi system.
- Select the Advanced tab.
- Click Setup > Internet Setup.
- Under Domain Name Server (DNS) Address, select Use These DNS Servers.
- Type 1in all the boxes and click Apply.
