1. Reboot the Phone
First things first, try the reboot process. A simple reboot can be helpful in fixing glitches. Thus reboot your phone right away and then try to launch the app to turn off the remote access option.
2. Update the App
Has the reboot process failed to help you? Check for updates for your Orbi app now.
- Go to the App Store (iPhone) or Play Store (Android).
- Tap the profile icon at the top right corner.
- Select Manage apps & devices.
- Tap Manage.
- Select the Orbi app.
- Tap Update.
Important Note: Are you receiving an error message while you are turning off the Remote access? If you get an error message that says “Anywhere access can not be turned off while you’re connected remotely” then use the hacks that follow.
3. Turn Off Cellular Data
If you are unable to turn off remote access on your app this could be because cellular data is turned on the phone. Although the phone is connected to the Orbi network, if the signal is weak the network may be shifted to a better signal strength like the cellular data. This is why you’re receiving the error message. Thus, you should turn off the cellular data on your phone now.
iPhone:
- Tap the Settings icon.
- Select Cellular.
- Turn it off.
Android:
- Open the Settings app.
- Select Network & internet.
- Tap Settings next to carrier.
- Turn mobile data off.
4. Check the Connection type
It is observed that most users get the error message while they turn off the remote access. This is because the connection type on the app is set to remotely. You should change it to locally by accessing app using Orbi login details.
- Launch the Orbi app after connecting the phone to the Orbi’s WiFi.
- Tap on Menu.
- Select Connection.
- Change it to local.
There you go! You will no longer receive the error message that you are connected remotely. Go ahead and turn off Anywhere access now.
